ANT and Dec have confirmed that iconic Saturday Morning show SMTV will be making a comeback next August – 20 years after it was first broadcast.
Speaking at the BAFTAs, Dec revealed: “ITV have just agreed to it. They are on board now. We’ve had the first discussion now and it’s going to be August or September next year.
Ant McPartlin, Declan Donnelly and Cat Deeley dress up in a classic SMTV sketch”We can’t say too much but we’re getting the team back together. It’ll be on Saturday morning again at 9.25.”
SMTV Live was first broadcast on August 29, 1998 and ran until December 27, 2003 when it was axed following Ant and Dec’s departure to present Pop Idol.

Co-host Cat Deeley is expected to return alongside Ant and Dec. The 40-year-old presenter has spent the past decade fronting a number of high profile shows in the US.
It’s not yet known if the SMTV revival will also see the return of sister show CDUK which followed immediately after and featured performances and interviews with the music industry’s biggest stars.
The trio recently got together during Ant and Dec’s Saturday Night Takeaway grand finale at Disney World Orlando.
Speaking on stage, Ant said: “Now Cat, that will be 20 years next year, I reckon – we were talking – we should do a 20-year reunion next year.”
After pretending to deliberate, Cat finally agreed as the crowd cheered wildly in excitement.
Earlier this year Cat had spoken of her desire to bring back the hit show.
She said: “I think it would be a great idea. It’s been 20 years. I think it’s about time, isn’t it, for all those with a misspent youth?
“It was normally the Friday night that was the misspent youth and they woke up on the Saturday morning, slightly hungover.”
